STAMPED Specification Sheet Builder

STAMPED is the seven-item checklist the hose industry uses to describe an assembly: size, temperature, application, material, pressure, ends, delivery. Fill what you know and the builder writes the specification paragraph a quotation can be issued against, and names the items still outstanding rather than filling them with a default.

Specification Details

S Size — bore and free length between fittings

T Temperature — fluid and ambient

A Application — where it runs

M Material — fluid carried

P Pressure — peak, in bar

E Ends — both connections

D Delivery — quantity and date needed

Important Notes

An assembly is cut to the free length between fittings that you state, so length is measured between the sealing faces, not over the fitting hexes. Where an item is left blank the builder reports it as outstanding: a specification with a guessed pressure or a guessed end connection is the most common cause of a re-quote.
